When things change throughout the year, like the birth of a child, marriage, divorce, loss of coverage elsewhere, etc. you may need to update your benefits outside of Open Enrollment. If you're unsure if you can update your benefits now, please read our article about Qualifying Life Events (QLEs). Provided you have a QLE, please follow the steps below to update your benefits outside of the Open Enrollment:
1. Go to Employee Navigator and click Login.
2. Enter your username and password and click Login.
3. From your Home page, click on Change Benefits.
4. To submit your Life Event, click on Submit a Life Event.
You can also click on Learn More for more information on choosing the correct life event.
5. After you click on Submit a Life Event, you will click on the appropriate life event in the dropdown.
6. In the example below, I selected the Life Event “Change in Other Coverage” (employee gains other coverage). In this case, you’ll need to enter the last date of other coverage and whether the change is for yourself or your dependent.
7. After you have walked through the steps to complete your Life Event, then you are ready to begin your Life Event enrollment. Click on Get Started.
8. You will first be required to review and edit (if needed) your Personal Information (step 1), your Address (step 2), and your Dependent Information (step 3).
If adding dependents to your benefits, please be sure to add your dependents in the Dependents Information section.
9. Once you get to the benefits section, you will follow the steps to complete your Life Event. In the example below, since I am dropping coverage on 9/30/24 due to being eligible for other coverage, I will select End & Continue. You will go through each benefit until you reach your Life Event Summary.
If you add or remove dependents from your benefits, you must select the appropriate dependent in the "Who am I enrolling?" section.
10. Once you have completed your Life Event enrollment, you’ll reach the last step: your Life Event Summary. Please make sure your life event was processed correctly and review your summary. To ensure your life event is processed, click on Finish & Submit.
If you accidentally did not update your life event correctly, you can click on Cancel Life Event to cancel your life event and start a new one.
