Refill your Prescription Medication Now!

If you will need a medication refill soon, it is recommended that you refill your prescriptions before January 1st when possible. This will help ensure you have enough of your medication in the event that your new ID cards are delayed during the upcoming holiday season.

Will I Need a New Prescription?

If you fill your prescriptions at a local (retail) pharmacy, you do not need a new prescription because of the insurance change. However, you must show your new ID card and let your pharmacist know that you have new insurance beginning January 1st.

What about Mail Order Prescriptions?

If you fill your prescriptions through mail order, your mail order refills will end after December 31st. However, our new medical plan offers both mail order and retail options for maintenance medications. You can read this article to learn more about how and where to sign up for the new service.

If You Have an Appointment or Procedure Scheduled after January 1st

Speak with your providers right away to let them know your insurance is changing as of January 1, 2024. This includes doctors, hospitals, and any other place you plan to receive care.

Our new Cigna medical plan uses the Cigna Open Access Plus network of providers (Cigna OAP). Although the Cigna OAP network is among Cigna’s largest network of providers, it is important to confirm your providers' in-network status before you receive care. The best way to check before January 1st is to follow these steps:

  1. Visit the Cigna Provider Search website
  2. Under "How are you Covered," select Employer or School.
  3. Change the location to the city or zip code you want to search.
  4. Go to the Search and enter your search criteria. This could be your doctor's name, a type of specialist or a facility type like "hospital" or "urgent care."

You can check for in-network providers even before you are enrolled. After you receive your Cigna ID card, create an account on myCigna.com for an even easier search!
