If you enroll in Bedford City School District’s $4,000 Deductible Medical Plan, you have the option to contribute to a Health Savings Account, or HSA.

IMPORTANT: Bedford City Schools has partnered with a new HSA administrator for 2025, BBP Admin.

Your current HSA dollars will remain in your current Payflex/Inspira account unless you choose to move them. If you choose to contribute in 2025, please look for a welcome email from BBP Admin following your enrollment. You will also receive a new HSA debit card from BBP at your home address. To access your BBP Admin HSA account, you will need the employer ID, BBPBCSD.

An HSA is a special type of bank account for medical expenses that aren’t covered by insurance, such as your medical plan deductible, prescriptions, or over-the-counter healthcare items. Any dollars you choose to contribute to an HSA are deducted from your paycheck before it is taxed.

A Health Savings Account is a valuable tool to help you plan and save for health care expenses. Some features include:

  • The dollars you contribute to an HSA are yours to keep, even if you change jobs.
  • Your HSA dollars never expire.
  • Like a regular bank account, the dollars you contribute to an HSA are available only as they are contributed.
  • The IRS limits how much can be contributed to an HSA each year. For 2025, the limits are $4,300 per individual or $8,550 per family. Individuals aged 55 (and not eligible for Medicare) or over are allowed an additional $1,000 per year.
